Dear Fellow Bristol Republican:

Whether you’re new to Bristol or a new Republican, welcome to this great city of ours with the small town charm!  We are home to such great attractions as Lake Compounce & the Harry C. Barnes Memorial Nature Center, events such as the Bristol Summer Concert Series, or the Farmers Market, the Carousel Museum, and Muzzy Field, the home of the Bristol Blues, just to name a few! With its roots in manufacturing, and large stately homes of a by-gone era up on Federal Hill, you can easily think there is little left to imagine happening here.  But now, development downtown is breathing new life into the entire community, and with each completed and occupied building, are the promises of exciting things to come. Our long-anticipated redevelopment of downtown Bristol, no longer a dream, is awakening our city with a renewed sense of purpose and transformational change!

Yes, Bristol is full of excitement and anticipation. Just check our calendar and Bristol All Heart to get a glimpse of all the events and activities throughout the year, and of course the City of Bristol “notify me” section (https://www.bristolct.gov/list.aspx#) to signup for alerts to the various meetings, commissions and committees there are in town.

And of course, let’s not forget this is an election year with our own State Senator Henri Martin representing the 31st, along with Republican State Representatives Cara Pavalock D’Amato (of the 77th), Joe Hoxha (of the 78th) seeking re-election, while Dave Schrager, a first time candidate, is seeking election as the State Representative (of the 79th)!  Every vote counts so please take every opportunity, especially Early Voting (explained below), to cast your vote for these great Republican candidates!

Early Voting is available to all and the BRTC strongly supports this opportunity to cast your vote in person at a time that may be more suitable to your schedule. The process, described by Republican Registrar, Jolene Lusitani, is both safe and secure and goes like this:

a)The voter enters City Hall and proceeds to the City Hall Council Chambers. There is one way in and one way out. Signs will be on the doors.

b) Proceed to checker.

c) Provide checker with proof of identity and residence.

d) Once the checker verifies your information, you will receive your Early Voting Ballot.

e) Fill out ballot, put it into the envelopes and seal them, and drop in the locked Ballot Box.

f) Ballots are then counted and verified in the Registrar’s Centralized Voting System to eliminate duplicate votes.

g) Ballots are stored in a locked vault with the City Clerk until Election Day where they will be processed with the Absentee Ballots.

“ Now, this is how it was done for the Primary in April and how it will be done in August. Also, we had extremely low numbers so we were able to have checkers do all the work. If Early Voting picks up then we will have to hire more workers and change the format a little.”

If you have any questions about “Early Voting” as explained here, please feel free to call or email Jolene Lusitani @ the Registrar’s Office

(860.584.6165 or jolenelusitani@bristolct.gov).

There are many ways as Republicans that you can get involved and no better way to start then by attending our monthly meetings. You can find more information about them on our website calendar. Why don’t you take a few minutes to check it out as well as the rest of our website and then make a point of dropping in at our meeting!

Until then, thank you for choosing to be a Bristol Republican!

Respectfully,

Maria Tramazzo
